Your summer-project : Actively invest in yourself
You may think that a few weeks of doing little to nothing will rest your mind, so you can cope with a new year of hard and stressful work.
Yes - do take time to enjoy some culture, beach, family-time, BBQ or travel.
However - you may find that at the end of the vacation you do not feel more energized. Actually, you may end up being disappointed that you have had so much time available, but you didn't do any work on yourself.
You can use your time-off to discover how you can thrive in the year to come and realize new opportunities for yourself and your team or organization.

Increase energy, reduce stress and find new motivation
Increasing your inner energy
The type and quantity of energy you have available to use is not only determined by changing your OUTER circumstances - different social contacts or another physical or environmental setting, like a holiday destination (this is changing the What you are busy with).
Instead, to increase your energy you also need to change the Who, Why and How by introspecting, discussing and strengthening:

- your thoughts and beliefs about yourself or your work situation
- the mindset and degree of consciousness that guides you
- your emotional responses to things that happen
- and your motivation in life.
Concretely, to increase your INNER energy use your summer-time to:
- ➡️ Clarify your desires and dreams
- ➡️ Rediscover your motivation
- ➡️ Investigate obstacles, anxieties or tensions that stop you from getting what you want
- ➡️ Sharpen your focus
- ➡️ Better understand what drives you, and
- ➡️ Enjoy each day more.
Start with uncovering your true goal
Without a personal vision, an idea of where you'd like to go, you do not know in which direction to move.
Having an exciting new prospect with deep purpose is fulfilling and will inspire you to create new opportunities.
A clear and crisp vision will guide you to truly act, feel and think differently.
To clarify your vision, consider starting with some initial questions:
❔If you had exactly what you wanted, what would you be experiencing?
❔How would these new experiences feel like?
❔What might be different for you if you could make these experiences a reality?
❔What might your ideal look like?
To speed-up the process and ensure you discover a truly transformational new vision that you can action, undertake the following exercise.
Exercise #1 - One Year from Now
Take a quiet moment with a pen and paper where you can focus.
Belief that you have the power to increase your own energy.
Answer the following questions - In One Year from Now….

- What are you doing? (In as many aspects of your life as possible)
- With whom are you doing it?
- Where are you living?
- How much income are you earning?
- How much fun are you having?
- What difference are you making in the world each day?
- What do your senses pick up?

Take a moment to reflect on your answers, and revisit them in the next few days 2-3 more times, and make edits where you want.

Listen for inner blocks
When doing this exercise, also carefully listen to the inner voice that speaks to you, so you can:

- Recognize : unproductive thoughts and beliefs that are getting in the way
- Explore : deeper to become better aware of those potential barriers
- Create : new perspectives, beliefs or mindsets that support positive action
- Act : to start moving based on the newly created thinking.
Write-up and document the inner blocks you hear.

Uncovering the true answer to these questions can be a challenge. And that's totally normal - it may take some time and hard work to get this clarity.
What has helped many people is to find a sparring partner, a buddy, a coach an accountability partner, ideally a professional that doesn't judge you for your answers, and helps you uncover your vision.
